Early reintubation is a marker that is directly related to an increase in postoperative hospital stay, 30-day mortality from all causes, and 30-day readmission rate, through an increase in pulmonary complications postoperative.
The SPORC-2 scale is presented as a useful tool and is an improvement with respect to the existing scales in predicting the risk of early reintubation, based on the evaluation of variable preoperative and intraoperative items. This tool is presented as a dynamic element and easy to use, which will allow a decision to be taken towards successful extubation. It allows correct planning and taking the least possible risk, which translates into an important advantage for both the patient and for the clinician.
