Ecological studies are observational studies that have the peculiarity that the study population are not individual subjects, but grouped subjects, so the level of inference of their estimates is also aggregated. In order to know the value of its conclusions, it will be important to study its internal validity, the clinical importance of its results and if they are applicable and useful in our clinical environment.
