Abstract

Business managers are increasingly aware that the difference between long-term successful organizations and those that are not is in people.

As J. Pfeffer explained “Success does not come from having a good strategy, but from its correct implementation. This capacity for implementation depends largely on the people who make up the organization, how they are treated, their abilities and skills, and their efforts to contribute to the company. ”

Throughout the following text the concept of competence that produces observable behaviors, which is precisely one of the differences with the skills, is discussed. Subsequently, the professional competences of the management function common to all types of organizations and specifically those suggested for the health field are deepened. The concept of management by competencies of the Clinical Management Units, which could be defined as “The evaluation of the use and the level of development of the competencies of a person ( or team of the Clinical Management Unit) to help consolidate, acquire and improve observable, spontaneous, recurrent and relevant behaviors to achieve results in professional work ”
