A high proportion of the articles published in medical journals are defective from a methodological point of view. These errors may be due to the lack of knowledge of authors and reviewers. However, in some cases they are deliberate errors with the aim of favoring certain conclusions. The most frequent errors that can be observed with the use of statistical tests are reviewed.
