The treatment of the patient with severe burns is very complex. It is essential to know the pathophysiological alterations that occur, as well as their time course, in order to provide adequate perioperative care.
Major Burns will undergo multiple surgical interventions throughout the entire evolutionary process and it is necessary to carry out an exhaustive preoperative evaluation to develop an appropriate surgical plan for each patient.
Airway management in these patients can be a great challenge for the anesthesiologist and deserves special consideration, as well as pain management due to its great complexity.
