Abstract

The study and research of human factors (FH) during the development of the perioperative process has gained popularity in recent years. The way in which they are managed, both personally and by the health team, have influenced the outcome for the patient, with greater evidence in crisis situations, where inadequate stress management by the health team and the professional in charge, increases the possibility of the appearance of serious sequelae for the patient. Anesthesiologists are recognized for their expert management of the airway, combining different basic and advanced technical skills to manage it, which must be performed together with other non-technical skills (HNT) and interacting with the HFs of the anesthesiologist. staff involved. This narrative review of the literature focuses on the different NPHs and HFs present during airway management, their impact on patient outcomes, and the strategies mentioned in the different clinical practice guidelines to mitigate their deficits.
