Abstract

Introduction

During 2020, humanity restructured its habits in the face of the spread of COVID-19. Anesthesiology residents decreased their practices due to the suspension of surgeries. The challenge was raised to create pedagogical strategies to continue the training of human resources through simulation. A theoretical and practical training plan was designed for new entrants to the first year (R1) of the Postgraduate Specialization Career in Anesthesiology (UNR) at the ARASIM Simulation Center, preventing them from contacting the virus in their training hospitals.

Materials and methods

Self-assessment surveys (Google Forms questionnaires) sent to R1 and its assessors. The degree of expertise and the quality of the training given in ARASIM to the entrants (R1) of the Rosario Anesthesia Postgraduate Career were assessed. It was consulted about the perception of its evaluators about its performance. It was evaluated if the pedagogical strategy used favors learning and is applicable to the work environment where they will work.

Results

The 10 R1 answered, and 36/66 evaluators (55%). The R1s rated their experience with IV placement as excellent (45%) and very good (55%). Their trainers 55% rated them the same way. The R1 considered that the skills learned in the High Fidelity Simulators were applicable to the hospitals where they work (8/10).

Conclusion

The perception was highly satisfactory and the proposal is applicable to training hospitals. The pandemic led to the reformulation of useful curricula and learning methodologies for future implementation.
