Resumen

Los pacientes pediátricos sometidos a cirugía cardiaca reciben con mucha frecuencia transfusiones de sangre. En los últimos años el uso de la tromboelastometría como guía para tomar decisiones junto con un mejor entendimiento de las alteraciones que se producen en la hemostasia tratan de reducir la prevalencia de transfusiones en estas intervenciones.

La detección precoz de anormalidades en la hemostasia aumenta la posibilidad de iniciar medidas para minimizar las pérdidas de sangre perioperatorias y la necesidad de transfusiones.
