Resumen

El uso de cristaloides versus coloides en el paciente crítico ha sido desde hace años motivo de controversias. Actualmente se plantea un debate acerca de la efectividad relativa de los coloides comparados con los líquidos cristaloides (entradas anteriores albumina vs salino 0,9, o uso de la albumina en la resucitación). Las soluciones de coloides se utilizan cada vez más en la reanimación de pacientes en estado crítico, a pesar de que en las últimas revisiones de ensayos clínicos no se encontró pruebas de que los coloides reduzcan el riesgo de muerte comparado con los cristaloides.

Incluso la actual evidencia científica sugiere que los coloides pueden ser perjudiciales en algunos pacientes. Por lo tanto, la Sociedad Europea de Cuidados Intensivos (ESICM) reunió a un grupo de expertos para establecer recomendaciones del uso de coloides en pacientes críticos basados en la evidencia científica disponible.
