Resumen

Esta máscara laríngea fue desarrollada por el Dr. Archie Brain y puesta en el mercado en el año 2.007. Es el producto más reciente (junto con la LMA C-Trach) de la empresa LMA, y pretende poner en nuestras manos una “versión desechable y mejorada” de la LMA ProSeal.

Esta máscara posee varias innovaciones que le confieren identidad propia, es desechable y está construida en PVC. Posee un mango de introducción semi-rígido con una curvatura similar a la LMA Fastrach, pero es elíptico lo que le confiere mayor estabilidad en orofaringe, incorpora un protector de mordida y una lengüeta dorsal rectangular en su extremo proximal para facilitar su fijación y manipulación. El tubo de drenaje es independiente pero está situado dentro del “mango ventilatorio”, en su extremo proximal emerge hacia dorsal en un ángulo agudo y con un trayecto corto de 3 cm. Dentro del mango circula por la línea media y en el cuff está adherido en su cara dorsal e interna. Su extremo distal ha sido reforzado para evitar el doblez que puede ocurrir durante la inserción. Este tubo de drenaje acepta sondas hasta 14 French (para las máscaras N° 3 y 4) y 16 French (para la N° 5).
