Resumen

En el año 2012 se ha publicado la última edición de la Surviving Sepsis Campaign. Editada en forma de Guía de Práctica Clínica, consta de dos partes bien diferenciadas. En la primera se presentan todos los aspectos relacionados con el tratamiento específico de la infección, es decir, tratamiento antimicrobiano y control del foco.

También están incluidos los cuidados de reanimación inicial del paciente, es decir, soporte hemodinámico y administración de fluidos. La segunda parte, titulada “Terapia de Soporte en la Sepsis Grave”, aborda el resto de tratamientos y medidas de soporte orgánico general, no específicas de la sepsis, pero que deben ser aplicadas de una forma sistemática a cualquier paciente con sepsis grave. En el presente artículo hacemos un resumen de lo tratado en esa segunda parte de la Guía “Sobrevivir a la Sepsis”.
